Our Story: Back to the Beginning
Aloiphē was born in the quiet moments of chaos.
After welcoming two children into our family, we found ourselves completely spent — physically, mentally, and spiritually. We were running on fumes, trying to keep up with a world that constantly told us what we needed, what we lacked, and how to fix it — usually by buying something full of ingredients we couldn’t pronounce.
At the end of our rope, we turned to God.
For the first time in our lives, we truly opened the Word — not just out of habit, but with hunger. What we found shook us. The Bible didn’t match what we’d been taught by the culture… or even by much of the modern church. One verse in particular stopped us in our tracks:
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you…?”
(1 Corinthians 6:19)
That hit hard. If our bodies were temples, we hadn’t been treating them like holy places. Not even close. We started reading labels. Learning. Digging. And what we found made us sick — quite literally. Hormone disruptors. Petrochemicals. Preservatives banned in other countries. All in the everyday products we used on ourselves and our babies.
Disgust turned into conviction.
We wanted to live differently — not just for ourselves, but for our children. So we went back. Way back. Before the Rockefellers turned medicine and skincare into profit machines. Before the chemical industry convinced us that “natural” wasn’t enough. We asked ourselves:
How did people take care of their bodies before all this?
That’s when we discovered tallow — the golden, nutrient-rich fat once prized for its healing, nourishing properties. It’s what our ancestors used to protect and restore the skin. No fancy formulas. No synthetic junk. Just the way God made it.
We made our first batch of tallow balm in our kitchen — simple, clean, and shockingly effective. Friends and family started asking for jars. We kept refining, learning, praying.
And Aloiphē was born — named after an ancient word for oil, anointing, and healing. It reminds us daily: this isn’t just skincare. It’s stewardship. It’s reverence. It’s a return to something sacred.

Supermarket Skincare Brands
It was honestly terrifying to discover just how dangerous the skincare aisle had become.
As new parents, we were doing our best to protect our family attempting to make clean, conscious choices with the occasional family meeting in the Taco Bell Drive-thru… But for the most part we began caring more and more the older our kids got. We realized just how much diet and environment affected their behavior. So we began really looking into the items we had just figured were safe… Sunscreen, lotion, detergent, snacks, drinks, etc… the deeper we looked, the more impossible it felt. Every product we picked up was full of synthetic chemicals, hormone disruptors, pore-clogging fillers, and ingredients linked to cancer. What started as a simple effort to care for our baby and ourselves quickly became the realization that we were living on the frontlines of a war for the health and wellbeing of our brand new family.
Things became more discouraging as we began looking for alternatives—brands that perhaps put people over profit, or were not seemingly intentionally using toxic crap—but it only got darker.
The Petroleum Problem
An estimated 80–90% of mainstream skincare products contain petroleum-derived ingredients or petrochemicals in some form.
Here’s how that breaks down:
Common petroleum-based ingredients include:

~Synthetic fragrances (often derived from petrochemicals)

These ingredients are found in everything from moisturizers to sunscreens, baby products, lip balm, lotions, shampoos, and makeup.
Why so common?

Allergic Reactions + Sensitivity
Synthetic petrochemicals—especially in fragrance, dyes, and preservatives—are among the most common causes of contact dermatitis and allergic reactions.

Real Lawsuits, Real Harm
These aren’t theoretical risks—they’re documented patterns of harm:
- Johnson & Johnson: Faced over 58,000 lawsuits related to its talc baby powder allegedly causing ovarian cancer. In 2018, a jury awarded $4.7 billion to 22 affected women.
- L’Oréal: Named in multiple lawsuits for using chemicals in hair relaxers linked to uterine and breast cancer, especially impacting Black women.
- Procter & Gamble: Recalled aerosol dry shampoos and conditioners from brands like Pantene and Herbal Essences due to benzene contamination—a known human carcinogen.
The Result
Rather than fixing the issue, and removing these harmful ingredients, these “Mega Corporations” opted for the less expensive remedy, of now hiding these poisons behind vague terms like “fragrance” or “proprietary blend” on ingredient lists.(A similar tactic was done in the food industry with the names of food dyes Red 40 became Allura Red AC)

🛍️ The Illusion of Choice
You might wonder: “Why not just buy something else?” Or feel reassured because “I only shop at that all-natural grocery store—everything there must be safe, right?”
But the most unsettling truth we uncovered was this: Nearly every major skincare brand on the shelf—whether it’s a drugstore bargain or a luxury label—is owned by the same 3 or 4 multinational corporations. These companies control dozens of brands across different categories and price points, all while using the same manufacturing pipelines, ingredients, and profit-driven strategies.
So while it feels like you’re making a healthy, conscious choice… you’re often just picking between different labels designed in the same boardroom.
It is important to remember that these parent companies are publicly traded—which means by law, they are required to prioritize shareholder profits over providing a cleaner, safer, or superior product. If there’s a choice between a slightly better ingredient or a slightly higher margin, the margin wins—EVERY time.
So even when it feels like you’re making a conscious choice, you’re often just choosing which profit stream to support—not which formula is best for your skin.
This isn’t wellness.
It’s business.
And the bottom line always comes first.
